What are the rare headstamps for .38 Special brass? I know .38-44 is one, but are there others. I was given a milk jug full of .38 Special brass over the weekend, and I found a couple Browning .38 Specials and one that says AMRON. Also there is some with what appears to be military markings. I don't know how rare mine are, but are there any really rare .38 Special headstamps out there?

I've seen the AMRON headstamp before. I think they might have been a budget supplier of cheap practice reloads to police departments and suchlike. Come to think of it, I might have even had some AMRON boxes at one time--blue and white, perhaps? (Maybe I'm thinking of 3-D ammo boxes.)

I know most all of these but a few I need help on..
ZERO
TZZ
CAVIM

I believe TZZ is Israeli-made. Good stuff. I think the US military buys some ammo from them.

AMRON is NORMA backwards. I believe it was an economy or lesser grade NORMA product.

Older Headstamps back past the 50s:

WRA Co
W.R.A. Co.
UMC
REM-UMC
Peters
USC Co
U.S.C. Co.

Herters

Western
WC Co

Canadian:
Dominion
CIL
Imperial

Just to name a few.

AMRON had nothing to do with NORMA, nor are they related in any way shape or form, PERIOD.
AMRON did make the ammunition sold by the BROWNING ARMS COMPANY for many years.
AT one time I had nearly 150 38SPL headstamps from around the world. About 20 years ago I tossed 'em all in the mix with all the rest for 38SPL plinking ammunition.
The one to find that is the HOLY GRAIL of 38SPL headstamps might be SUVENSHAMETALVERKEN. Do not hold me to that spelling as it is off the top of my head. You'll know it when you see it.

http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-hand-ejectors-1896-1961/84157-calling-all-38-44-hs-ammo-collectors-fans.html This is a thread about 38 44 ammo if you have any interest. Someone on the S&W forum a few years ago tried to start a group buy and have Starline make some brass with a 38 44 Hi Speed headstamp. I don't know if it was too expensive or if there was concerns about trademarks, but sadly it didn't come to fruition.

TZZ is the headstamp code the US military assigns to ammo made under contract in Israel. Much like LC is for Lake City, FA for Frankford Arsenal, etc.
