The new, replacement RAR is here! 8)
The new, replacement gun:
Okay guys, I disassembled and cleaned the new rifle.
I installed the bolt and tried a piece of already once-fired brass (it had been fired in the first rifle). I tripped the trigger, the pin hitting a fresh spot. I compared the indents. The new one seems to be not as close to the rim of a CCI case. The indent position looks to be right about where it should be. The indent also seems more square then the old one. This looks better to my eye.
As the bolt closes, it's not quite as smooth then the first rifle. but I would not call it rough by any means. The machining looks fairly smooth on the mating surfaces of the bolt and the action.
Now for the BIGGIE: Remember, I only was able to check it in the house under interior home lighting, but, the outside of the barrel seems to NOT have those weird steps as the first rifles barrel had.
The trigger (as it left the factory) seems lighter then the first gun.
My (replacement) rifle went from 3.5# to 1.5# by removing the trigger spring. The spring on the Accu-Blade will reset the trigger every time.
I slugged the barrel (per Bill Calfee's instructions), it seems tighter then the first barrel. No choke @ though. The slug measured .222, I'm encouraged.
I mounted the same Weaver CKT15 15X scope in Burris Signature Zee rings on Weaver #16 bases (bases lapped to receiver couture).
Range tomorrow!
