The new Bearcat w/sights has a different model number than all the other Bearcats so it is a 'new gun' entirely according to the powers that be and has to be examined and then debated as to its acceptability or rejection. I was at my local dealer today and she informed me that my new 'sighted' Bearcat has been in her backroom for months but she cannot release it to me till it is on the 'approved' list.
I sometimes would like to have some of these people in my hands and just hold them under water till they quit wiggling.

I remember the days when all that was debated. It seemed like a good thing at the time but as goes all good things it is past it's time now. At least we don't have to have a spent cartridge case sent in when purchasing a new gun now; they have finally figured out that it was a worthless requirement and that not one crime was ever solved by said spent cartridge case. Hopefully some other things will get changed in the next four years.

I too wonder who and what they are. I am going to have to look into what it takes to be assigned to the panel and who is presently on it.

After I initially posted this ^ I went to the Maryland State Police web site and sent them an email asking the above questions. Lets see how long it takes to get an answer, IF I even get one.

First: I remember the Saturday Night Special debate too.... I was in Middle School.... in retrospect it is obvious for the real reason. To keep cheap guns out of the hands of poor blacks... during a very volatile time in our country.

I'm currently reading "The Founding Fathers and the 2nd Amendment"..... I think any one elected should be required to read this book and pass a test.

The 'Handgun Roster Board' met on 17 April and once again the power of bureaucracy rears it's ugly head. They 'tentatively' approved the new Bearcat model number 0916 (blued model) but didn't approve the model 0917 (stainless model). Seems that one must file a petition for EACH and EVERY different model of a new handgun, although the only difference is the material or color on said handgun.
Knowing that information I still will have to wait till after 17 May to acquire my new Bearcat...then wait an additional 7 working days for State Police approval of ME.

Hope you get your gun soon, but I have no sympathy for you or anyone else that lives where the state is against families and personal rights including the right to self-defense, et al.

By living there and paying taxes there, you - by proxy - support the state's policies, so deal with it. I have turned down chances for promotion and more money several times, but it meant moving to states that are not friendly to home-schooling, 2nd admendment, et al. You have to pick and choose what is important to you. When I lived in Mass., I sold all of my guns rather than register them. Now that I have escaped that pit, I will never willingly go back.

I do not fly because I will not support the TSA or the airlines that let the gov get away with their abridgement of our 4th admendment rights against illegal search & seizure. All it would take would be a week's boycott of the flying public to shut them down, bt it will never happen because we are a gutless society that gets more upset when our internet of cable TV goes out than when our government strips away another God-given right. TD

Heck; Maryland was a state that STILL had a Movie Censor way back in 1980/81; Some little old lady that watched ALL the movies before they could be shown in Maryland and she had all the "raunchy" scenes removed.

I finally contacted Ms, Jenkins yesterday and had a long and hopefully productive conversation. I explained to her that the Bearcat model #0916 had tentatively been approved and was shown on the Maryland Register but model #0917 had not. I explained the the two were basically the same revolver except #0916 was a blued model and #0917 was a stainless model. She said that she would add the #0917 to the list but it would not show on the Register but should be on the Roster as of 18 May. I also asked her why I was getting the 'run around' when using the email addresses but was having a great conversation with her. She said that they like to speak with people when at all possible. She said that way they can attempt to listen and see if the caller actually knows what he/she is talking about. She also said that if, in the future, I should ever see anything like what I spoke to her about to not hesitate to call her.
