Questions about a round hammer on SP101

A while back I saw a photo of a SP101 with a round hammer. What is the history of that hammer, how many did they make, when, and is there any chance of getting one?

I'm guessing what you might have seen is a hammer that had the spur cut off giving it that rounded look. I might be wrong.

A while back I remember seeing some SP101s with the ring commander style hammer. As I recall, they were DAO and an overrun of a special production run for the Department of State. They used to be fairly common on the auction sites, but I haven't looked in a while so I don't know about current availability.

That was my recollection as well, in .38 spl I believe. I think CDNN was the last place I saw them a little over a year ago, KSP-821DOS, I should have bought one when I was thinking about it. They were in fact DAO, but the rounded commander hammer was there so that a holster retention strap would help keep it secured.
