Let me start by saying hello to all. This is my first post on this forum.

My 556 is about 1.5 years old and has around 2000 rounds thru it. While at the range I just had fired 3 shots and on the fourth one the trigger had not reset but had chamberd a round.

I got the trigger to fall down by pushing the peice? down and then used the charging handle to chamber another round which it fired but then it did the same thing again.

It feels like the safety has been engaged and the trigger will not pull back because it already is( it is cocked but locke up). The safety is in the fire position and will not move.

Can anyone give me a clue about this, kinda new to the AR but not totally ignorant. I emaild Ruger 4 days ago and still have not had a reply.

Thanks, hb.

Off the top of my head it sounds like either a disconnector problem or that the gun is just short stroking. Can you remove the upper, do a function check and visual inspection?

I know zip about the Ruger, have built a dozen ARs from the ground up and am assuming the trigger and lower are the same as a conventional AR.

yes you are correct, the lower is totally milspec. Just looking at the assembly it seems fine, I may try and take it out but I have never removed the trigger assembly and am just a little intemidated about it. Probably no big deal, but ....

1st off (again) let me say that I am glad that I joined this forum.
2nd off, I am glad that Welding Rod replied with comment.

I stated that am new to the AR but am not totally ignorant, let me take back that second part!!

I took apart the trigger and I'll be danged there lays squashed primer!

Now all seems to back to normal, still may get me the Timeny trigger that I came within a couple of hours of purchasing.

Thanks for that $200.00 comment Welding Rod :!: :D
