Bruce in WV
Single-Sixer
I bought a beater 3 screw 44Mag OMSBH several years ago and have had fun with it, but want to let it go and get something that better suits my needs/wishes. I sent it to the factory for conversion, they did the conversion, replaced the 7.5” barrel, put on new grips, and then reblued it.
I sent the gun to Reeder, who took out the conversion parts (all available), then did a trigger job on the original trigger parts, recrowned the barrel, added a locking Belt Mtn NM base pin, and throated the forcing cone. I sent the cylinder to 2 Dogs, who measured the exit holes and recommended no additional work required. I’ve put a couple of hundred 44spl-level coated bullet reloads through it. It’s very accurate and tight as a drum! The gun is 95%+ and good to go, but I realize I’m just not a single action guy.
I like the versatility of the cartridge and would like to get a double action/single action 44Mag Ruger or S&W revolver or possibly a lever gun.
I recently retired and need to be as frugal as possible in whatever deal I make to keep the difference in values to a minimum.
I would appreciate input from the experienced traders and sellers here on my situation.
ETA: this is not an offer to sell or trade the pistol. Once I have useful value data for my gun I will put up an ad with pictures in the classifieds.
I looked at gunbroker completed sales, but there are no comps. It’s a factory rebarreled and refinished gun, with an accuracy and performance package by a big name smith, with a full set of conversion parts. I’m guessing 7-8ish cash/trade value with another shooter with a gun that’s not a good fit for their needs/wishes who wants what I’ve got.
