Number of the gun would help also :wink: Me thinks a red and white box would be after 1972. Others on here know more then I. They will chime in im sure.
Box look like this...1976 Liberty model.

he sent a pic and the box looks like yours and it looks like a new model so me thinks its not what its supposed to be.supposed to have a lightweight cyl.in it and a trigger job.but i cant get a serial # from yet.

supposedly the guy he got it off of was into quick draw and only shot wax bullets .the cyl. in the pic looks to be just a fluted cyl. 350 for everything

If the gun is an Old Model/3 Screw then it's a heck of a deal. If it's a New Model in good shape it's still a good deal.

PS Serial Numbers will help. OM .45's start with a 45 prefix but the New Models have 46 as the prefix.

It looks as if this gun was modified for fast draw. If so it is not safe to shoot real bullets.

All Old Model Blackhawks had two-piece yellow and black boxes with a black end that had the model number information on it.
Super Blackhawks had black and red two-piece boxes.
