Right after Christmas I picked up used Blackhawk 41 magnum from the classifieds. Really was not looking to add a caliber, but the deal was too good to pass up.

Since I had no immediate plans to reload 41 mag, I started ammo shopping. I grabbed a box of HSM cowboy at Cabela's, all there was at the time, ~$40.

Then I started surfing, found some Precision One on sale for ~22 per box of fifty. Dinked around and let it sell out. So, regular price is ~$27, but I waited. Couple weeks of weeks went by and the sale was back on at $22.

So I ordered four boxes of 200 grain FMJ to try.

To the range I went today.

First of all, these guys use Starline brass, so does HSM by the way.

I don't have a way chrono the Precision One ammo, but the fireball is quite impressive and the recall is substantially more than the cowboy loads.

Oh, the ammo performed like a laser in my Blackhawk at 10 yards.

Yes I know, ten is not far, but I just wanted to get familiar with my BH 41.

I plan on buying more Precision One ammo, saving the brass and maybe putting my single press to work someday in the future.

The company is local to me. I buy primers and powder from them. Nice folks. I have gotten a few boxes of their loaded ammo. It ran fine for me.

I enjoy a 41 Blackhawk myself. Reloading the 41 magnum is the only way to go usually but in the meantime your plan sounds excellent and that is what I have done also. Brass never goes bad when properly stored, like in an old plastic tub with a lid.

Reload them cases! There is nuttin' like the satisfaction, the feeling of accomplishment and pride when your handloads group better than factory fodder...
