Rumor mill running rampant here in Hawaii. Local gun shops are telling people that Vithavouri is going to cease production and that "another" company is going to cease powder production and turn to cartridge manufacturing. Online research has indicated that Eurenco is selling off VV Oy but according to Lapua America it will not affect availability, however Eurenco's latest statement says production could be affect or will no longer be available. As for the other "rumor" I've found nothing that supports it. You guys hear anything? :D

Why would a company making powder quit making powder to go into cartridge manufacturing? They will need powder to be able to load the ammo. Why buy it when you can make it?

I read somewhere that Vithavouri was sold to a new owner a while back and everyone assured us there would be no changes.

agree on all responses but the rumor still runs rampant here! :D Also looked up the fire at Vihtavouri's plant in Finland and the fire was actually in a disposal bin but, according to the source, did not affect the actual plant (there was an evacuation of the plant and nearby town). Sometimes I think the LGS here in the islands spread rumors to generate a little panic and therefore justify higher prices. Being an island state demand can outstrip supply sometimes and the roaches seem to come out of the woodwork.....
 :D

Haven't heard that rumor yet. I'm sure it will make it to the mainland soon enough.

There is so much garbage floating around out there about the current shortages, it's almost impossible to sort fact from fiction.

To me the fact is:
Ammo is hard to find
.22LR is almost impossible to find without paying huge inflated gun show prices
reloading components are hard to find but seem to be coming available slowly.

Other than that, I've heard and read a lot of conjecture.
