Well fellows I did it. I ordered a new Ruger 1911 commander model 6702. I have several Colt's and Kimber's so it's time to test the waters with a Ruger.
Don't hold back. Tell me what you think of the 1911's made by Ruger. I want the good and the bad opinions.

Thanks

While I'm not a "1911 EXPERT" like some of folks on here, I'm happy with my SR1911. Seemed really tight at first (hard to rack the slide) it is easing up and feeds all that I've feed it so far.

I've had a LWT commander for over a year now and I simply love this pistol. Granted it's not a Les Baer or a Nighthawk which it was never intended to be, however it is a very dependable, fairly accurate carry firearm with any factory or hand load I've fed it. I did put a lighter hammer spring in mine after the first 50 founds to give me a 4 lb trigger pull, otherwise it's still stock. If you're still hesitating, I say ''go for it''! :)

There is no hesitation. It is ordered and should be here today or tomorrow. I bought the all stainless model. I looked at the Talo versions and the fancied up guns but for what I want I couldn't justify the extra expense. If I like it i can have it coated with something and add night sights myself.

I finally picked up my pistol. After getting her home i noticed the front sight was at it's outer edge to the left. I didn't mess with it until I was able to shoot it. It shoots 2" to the right at 7 yards and about 6" at 25. I'll say this the 2" groups are nice but not way over there. after some tapping with a brass rod she's about an inch right at 25 yards. I'm not real happy but I'll tap on her a little more the next time out.

I've shot my Ruger commander, that I purchased about 6 months after they came out quite a bit and I like it very much. It's tight and accurate. For the money you can't beat it.

papa shooter: If it troubles you to move a sight a bit then active shooting may not be the sport for you. Fellows that are successful at the shooting sports love tinkering with their guns'

It's no bother to move a sight. It's not the first time in 50+ years of shooting. I just figure a pistol with fixed sights would be set at mechanical zero from the factory.

If that's the worst problem you ever have with a SR1911 front sight . . .
