Picked up a New (to me) 44 Carbine today.

I've always wanted on of these, but have never actually seen one until today. Totally unexpected, but had to take it home. Looks like 1971 manufacture based on serial number. I was told it was an employees gun. Has a few minor handling marks on the wood, but other that that is in excellent shape. Bore is like new. I already have a Deerfield which I love to shoot. Can't wait to try this one out.

I had one like yours before I bought the 99 44. It was a great gun, lots of fun to shoot and a joy to carry on long days up and down the mountain.

GREATcarbine, but stick with JHP /JSP you will plug up gas port with lead rounds,not to mention feeding problems. Shot my NEW 1962 carbine today. awsome little bush gun.

GOOD job friend. i also shoot 240 jsp/jhp with 24gr. H110. also have 2 boxes of the super hot NORMA lead flatnose soft steel jacketed loads. my very old NEW black bear loads. great buck!!!!!W C

Ummm...Mr. Bumps....can you send me some info on that gun please? By your description of a 1971 date, it would indicate your gun has at least a 100- prefix on it. Did you know there aren't any Mannlicher stocked 44 Carbines known with a 100- prefix?? Yours may turn out to be the first known like that, but you'll need a $10 factory letter on it to prove it to the rest of the collecting world. Would be an awesome $10 investment in my opinion!!
So you may also want to find another shooter!

Well, Asking, and "getting" is another matter. :lol: I've seen a few on Gunbroker go for around $900, which is still a lot more than I paid. I am waiting on a letter from Ruger right now to confirm this gun actually shipped with a Mannlicher stock. If it really was an employee gun as I was told, it may have been aded at a later date. If it letters, Chad said it would be the only know 100 prefix gun with a Mannlicher stock. If so, I will not shoot it. If it doesn't letter, then off to the range it goes. Guess i luck out either way! :D

I beleive he's down to around $1100 for it now and still not sold as of today.

Here is one that found it's way to my stable yesterday, it's a 44 Magnum Carbine with an inlayed Mannlicher stock. The serial number dates to to 1966, it shoots and cycles great.

WOW a couple of great scores .I love my 1965 carbine ,but have always drooled over the Internationals and Deluxe's .Maybe good Lord will I'll have one of each one day. That would be a nice little brace of Rugers .Here's my baby .She's wearing a steel Weaver K-4 4x38 MM scope in this shot .

I just happened to stumble upon mine at a gun show.The guy that had it had a booth but wasn't a gun dealer ,he had a few guns for sale and this just happened to be one of them .I'd already spent all my money ,so I ask if he'ed be interested in trading for something .He said he would be interested in a carry gun.I'd just retired my Beretta 92-FS in favor of my Kimber custom T.L.E.II.I offered him the Beretta,5 15 round mags, a Galco Miami shoulder rig, a Bianchi S3 I.W.B. and a couple of cheap holsters and he took the deal .
I ran like I stole that thing because I did .With the steel Weaver K-4 4x38 MM scope on the gun and the rifle was in 98%,just a few small scratches on the butt plate .Consider that I paid $450.00 for the Beretta and had ran that many rounds through it .He was asking $450.00 for the rifle I came out to the good .Got a rifle I'd always wanted ,almost like new for a well used gun I didn't have a use for anymore ,I was one happy camper .

I've popped quite a few possums with my 10/22 with CCI Stinger in it and it really does a job on them .Next time I get a shot at one I just might use the .44 just for laughs .The Stingers make areal mess of them I can't imagane what the .44 carbine would do to one LOL Maybe just the feet and some hair would be all that's left .
