PayPals short lived $2500 user ‘misinformation’ fine

It's a shady organization to begin with. I was using them with a debit card for protection with sellers, then all of sudden I started noticing bogus charges on my bank statement, in less than a 3 month span this year I had to shut my debit card down twice and get it replace. Thankfully my bank refunded me.

Now I will only use a credit card for online shopping. But I think what was happening is somebody at PayPal was lifting my debit card number either that or they are hacked and don't even know it. Needless to say account is closed.

I don't use PP much, but have occasionally needed this type of service, to purchase something from someone. Please, those smarter than I am...give me a wiser alternative. (hint, I'm not great at cyber stuff) Thnx in advance.

Haven't used mine in quite awhile. Just closed it. Make sure you click the button from them to delete your info before completing the close function.
They didn't ask me why. Screw PayPal.

Well I sure aint the sharpest tool in the shed, but, I do not believe PP can “fine” you and just pull money out of the CC they have on file in my acct. Time will tell

Yep, that ain't gonna happen.
I've bought a number of gun related items and paid via PP.... may have even (heaven forbid) paid for a gun this way.......
It's all about politically correct and lawyers....

If you have agreed to their terms of service they can. I had a bank linked account, now paypal is closed because of this. Maybe you need a "tool sharpener" as we all agree to those terms of service without reading them. I am guilty too but I can easily live without paypal.

There is a credit card processing company called 'Square' that is just as anti gun as PayPal.... in their contract they list firearms sales aa banned if doing their transactions... it is listed along with a number of illegal transactions. Few years back I was looking into accepting credit and debit cards in my one man business and fell across this and so passed on them. But the reality is if any business of any type ask their lawyers about firearms the answer will be the same. The logic is that if anything bad happens then they will be listed in line with all the others in the civil law suit. The problem with this 'logic' if you take it for what the lawyers tell you then just about anything one does in business can lead to a suit and the only choice is don't do business......

Just stumbled upon this thread, thanks for the info. I deleted my credit card when I first found out about the "penalty", but I couldn't find out how to delete the account and stored data. Just now deleted data and closed account after leaving comment as to why. Never ordered a firearm using it, but I have used it for parts and accessories.

They didn't rescind it like they claimed...they simply reworded it, but they can still enforce it. And what's more, they can levy multiple fines if you were to post something they consider "misinformation" in more than one place. So if you posted the same thing they didn't like on Twaddle, Utoob, Fascistbook, and this forum, they could legally seize ten grand from your account under their user agreement. I ended up screaming at one of PayPal's customer service reps, John (whose voice sounded remarkably like Apu Nahasapeemapetilon from The Simpsons) when he kept arguing with me that they had removed the $2,500 fine from their user agreement, and basically refusing to cancel my account.

Pathetic woke company who will never see any business from me or my family again.
