I picked up this Service Six .38 Special today, I posted about this a while back but just got it from my dealer today who I saw at a gun show.
The finish is definitely a grey phosphate, and it has some kind of rack number, or what looks like one, stamped on the grip frame.
I have it broken down because the trigger is catching on the bolt and causing a light "hitch" in the DA pull. I have a factory DAO hammer I was going to install in it and use it as a carry piece, but I don't want to change it if this gun is something "different". Either way, it kind of throws a wrench in my plans to make it a DAO because this gun has one of the crappiest DA pulls I have ever experienced
It looks like a private owner just had the gun parkerized, but just wanted to see if anyone knew of any govt. agency or anything like that who might have parkerized these.....
