Today I worked on this mysterious Service Six, added a new set of wood grips and a factory spurless blued hammer. Also dropped in an old set of Bullseye springs I've had laying around for a while. I was surprised to see that the spurless hammer still had the single action notch, so I can still cock it.
Now it seems there's a problem with either the cylinder stop latch or the cylinder stop latch spring.....there's a bad "hitch" in the DA pull, it gags a little and then the bolt pops up in the window. Also when the cylinder is open, and I push on the stop latch it stays down. When the gun is dry fired, the stop latch locks up the cylinder just fine. It may be that the latch is improperly fitted, the spring is weak, or a past owner messed with one or both of them for some reason.
I ordered a new stop latch and spring from Numrich, hope to have it all ironed out this week 8)
