I was in my lgs this morning, which is usually so packed lately you can't even get close to the display case, but today not a soul in the joint besides me. I asked how long background checks were taking and he said it had dropped from a peak of 8 days a couple of weeks ago to 15 minutes yesterday. Has the pig moved thru the python? Are we back to normal? I even found some of my favorite ammo IN STOCK at midwayusa.

We are nowhere near normal. But I think we are inching our way back. Try finding bulk 22lr right now for a reasonable price.
I bought 3k pistol primers yesterday for $32+tax for each brick. I missed out on the bulk .22's that sold out in less than 2 hours with a 1 box limit. None were inflated prices. It just takes patience to get items for the normal price, but at least I can get most of what I need when others aren't as fortunate :(

I am finding ammo more readily available online but not at my favorite LGS, probably because the limited amount that they do get in, they sell at prices before the panic. Kudos to them.
Handguns are out there if you know where to look but it is sporadic but they don't sell out as quickly.
It will be months before we are back to normal but it is looking better than before.

Far, FAR from over. It's going to take at least a year before everything "gets back to normal", if that even happens.

I think the reason that the instant check is quicker is because there aint no guns to sell!!! My local dealer has sold everything that the hoards were buying up. Oh , there are still guns to buy but none of the evil black ones around here.

Walked into the lgs close to a range my dad is a member of yesterday after shooting. Ghost town. No guns under the glass. If you want bird shot or a shot gun you were in luck. Other than that, nothing really.

Local LGS their shelves were empty, but plenty of consignment guns are rediculious prices. AR vaiants taht sold for $800 had $3,000 hang tags on them. Don't know if they are selling, but get there are some buyers out there that would pay that....

I see the wholesale on the Ruger 556 is still less than $900. I can't believe they haven't jumped on the bandwagon and raised their prices.
Last time, 2008 took about 18 months for the pipelines to get back to normal. This will be even longer I think, as there is a concerted effort to break our will. Look at New York. Those that think we cannot be trusted with guns that are too dangerous have smelled blood in the water.
With the threat more real the more we will stockpile. If we want to see shelves refilled we must reduce that threat by electing leaders that will respect the 2nd amendment.

Today I saw 1000 rounds of PMC .223 FMJ for $485, 1000 rounds of bulk Federal (I think) .223 FMJ for $485, and 500 rounds of Independence .223 FMJ for $239.
20 round boxes of .223 FMJ was priced at $12.

Congress needs to get past the legislation phase. Hopefully all we will end up with is enhanced background checks and better law enforcement computer networking, but you never know with Feinstein driving the anti-gun bus.
Prior to that, everyone is still going to be afraid of some draconian Congressional response and will continue to hoard.

I sold three boxes of 10 year old primers at my club's auction recently, and got higher than current prices for them. I couldn't believe it! Back then I paid $17/1000 primers. I got $40/1000 for them.
Shelves at the larger LGSs are empty. Even cleaning supplies and targets are sold out.
I agree with closing the gun show loophole (but NOT the gun shows themselves). Individuals should not be able to bypass FBI checks when selling/buying guns. Same rules should apply as they do with FFL holders.
The other bans, I am against. And what's up with banning rifles that have bayonet mounts? A bayonet is just a knife. My K98 Mauser will be banned if this rule is accepted.

Powder seems to be a bit more readily available...I picked up another pound of Bullseye.
The jacketed bullet selection is practically nil.
He said they have a large Hornady order due on Friday, but it won't be processed and on the shelves until start of business on Saturday (7:00AM).
If I don't have to work Saturday, I will be there at opening time to re-stock on jacketed revolver bullets. I want to build up my reserves of several different calibers and weights. I am hopeful that the prices haven't increased. He didn't raise the price of Unique, Bullseye, Blue Dot or 2400 powder when they finally showed up in the last week or so...maybe the prices will remain constant.
If I must work, I will send my son down with a list of what to buy...don't want to miss out like I did the Saturday before last when they got in SP primers and sold them all out the same day. Difference is I didn't know those had come in until after the fact...Forewarned is forearmed.

Hey andyo5...How you going to enforce those required background checks without registration first? Who will do them....FFL holders? How much you think they are going to charge for that service. How many felons do you think will be following that law?

What I want to know is where is this loophole? Every gun I've bought at a gunshow from a dealers table was run through the system. Ever gun bought from another citizen from my same state was a personal transfer and legal. Do they want to stop us from selling our personal property? Please explain...
I don't think we ever really recoved 100% for the first chicken little scare, and this one is far worse than the first one, it's only been in about the last year AR and AK ammo prices were starting to come back down to more realistic prices, and was still lots of time in the last year I couldn't always find the primers I wanted or 22 ammo as well as other ammo, I hate to say it but it could be years to get over this one, mostly cause it takes the hoarders a year or so to stop hoarding after stores do start getting supplies in, when they can fill their shelves faster than the hoarders can grab it that when were on the mend.
