I have a genetic defect that forces me to shoot a couple inches left, so I was adjusting my P944 sight to give it a right-bias (I do this with all my pistols). When I shoot off a rest with an unconventional grip, the point of impact is a couple inches to the right, which I like, but then I got to looking at the group size. The best group I could get was 2.5" at 50 feet. Is that as good as it gets with a P944? 40S&W? I guess we'll never know without using a Ransom rest, but I was curious how accurate you guys can shoot a 40S&W off the bag. I'm shooting reloads (180gr plated w/ 6.5gr AA#5) so I'm wondering if I can improve the load, my technique, upgrade sights, etc. I got a new AR15 a few weeks ago, and after having shot that (shots go through the same hole), the P944 seemed erratic. I'm no better with my Super RedHawk either, but that has flinch-factor.
I'm not trying to fix my left-bias, i've come to terms with that, and with the sights compensated, under fast fire, they're centered on average. I'd like to tighten the groups up off the bench however, if possible.
Also, drifting the rear sight on a P94* is a huge pain with a hammer and a punch. It took me 30 minutes with a hammer, punch, soldering iron, liquid wrench, and I managed to move it .020". The cheapest sight adjustment tool is ~$150 -- can't 'ford it.
