Original Mouseketeer Karen Pendleton Has Passed Away at Age 73

Karen Pendleton, one of the original Mouseketeers on “The Mickey Mouse Club,” passed away Sunday after suffering from a heart attack. She was 73 years old.

Pendleton was one of the nine children who appeared during the show’s entire original run from 1955 to 1959.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the child actress was born on Aug. 1, 1946, in Glendale, California.

As a Mousketeer with a club card and all it’s sad to see folks I grew up watching pass. I remember going to the clubhouse (located where Mr. Lincoln is now) and meeting the people on the show.

Very sad indeed.

60+ years ago, I was smitten with Karen. I also thought I could be a Mousketeer. Time continues to march on.

By all accounts, she was as sweet as can be and thoroughly enjoyed her status as one of the handful of original Charter Mouseketeers throughout her lifetime.

All those original kids were my age. I had my pre-adolescent sights on Annette Funicello, who sadly passed from MS in 2013. Sad to realize we are all basically the same trail, regardless of our talents and abilities.

Pretty close in age here, too. Like every red-blooded American male of a certain age, I too, spent most of my viewing time focused on Annette. I'd have never guessed back then she'd end up so bravely facing such a terrible disease which would eventually take her. She seemed to be a charmed individual back then, and not just in the physical sense. I'll have to look up a picture to see which one Karen was. Seems they were all good looking kids! RIP, Karen.

Amazing the influence that Mr. Disney and this group of children had on America culture.

Not unlike Mr. Rogers.

Remember coming home from school with my sister and we would plant ourselves in front of the ONE tv in the house (invariably too close to the screen). It provided somewhat of a quite time while mom would prepare dinner.

Nothing for parents to worry about as far as indecent programming. Had many various episodes (Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew if I remember correctly) as well as visiting interesting places unknown to the average child.

Thank you God for letting me grow up in that America.

Karen was the cute little blonde, youngest of the girls, who was always paired up with equally-young Cubby as the "Little Meeseketeers". They were essentially "CubbyandKaren".
