Origin (TV) of the Lone Ranger...

A local movie channel here showed a three part episode depicting the origin of the Lone Ranger. The copywright date was 1949, and Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels were the main stars. The episodes depict the Cavendish gang as the murders who ambush the Rangers leaving the Lone Ranger wounded but alive. The very sinister Cavendish is played by Glen Strange, Gunsmoke's Sam, the bartender.

I watch the Lone Ranger often on our METV channel (think that's it)...really enjoy the old black and white versions...not too hot on the color versions...somehow a light blue jump suit and a red scarf take a bit of the "menace" away from old Lone...

Oddly, I found a DVD in the $5 bin at wallyworld not long ago with those very episodes on it...

I fondly remember all the after school oat operas from the late 50s and early 60s... 8)
