Multnomah, we hit all the falls along the Gorge up to a few mile west of Hood River before we went back to Portland. I wanted to go do some microbrews at Hood River but our host had to go to work that evening

Don, if you had kept going another hour or so east you would have mostl likely seen a bunch of bighorn sheep right along the highway on the hillsides. When we went through last month we stopped at a wide spot and watched 16 rams, including several full curl brutes, grazing withing 50 yards of the highway.

The Gorge is one of the pretty places around the NW that is for sure.

When we were up on the Clackamas, on a small tributary creek, I watched two really big Steelhead swimming in 10 inches of water, real pretty to watch

If you're still in Portland you can get a decent microbrew at any of the nicer lounges downtown.

Always love the gorge... used to fish the upper Clackamas for steelies until they closed it.

Road trip! I probably can't do that in a weekend though, huh? IDK, google maps says 28 hours one way. 3 day weekend maybe.

Robb, where did you see these and on which side of the river?

Start watching between Blaylock and Phillipi canyon on the Oregon side. We literally have seen sheep on the hillsides the last 6-7 times we have headed to my brothers in Pasco or my son's in Spokane. A few weeks ago we saw them about 10 miles west of Arlington on the Oregon side.

You know, the winter steelhead start coming into the Clackamas river in a few weeks, and it can get hot up on Eagle creek (which flows into the Clackamas) the first 2 weeks in December. One year I took my brother in law there early on Christmas morning and 2 of the 3 of us caught nice, chrome-bright steelhead that morning.

I just talked to my son who is stationed in Spokane and we are taking his dog back to him next weekend since he is home from his latest deployment. I am looking forward to the colors up the gorge this time of year as well as some more sheep viewing.
