Well a price for a standard Old Army with an added brass grip frame (even if it's a Ruger brassy) and one with an authentic original Ruger brass grip frame are going to be miles apart. So I have to ask if the brass GF has been authenticated as a Ruger grip frame and also if it originally came on that gun. Is the box marked as such? Does the grip frame have the casting mark "MR-3DB? Or was your friend the original buyer that bought it new as is?

See if it has an S on the bottom of the frame in front of the trigger guard?

Obviously your opportunity is a nice package & Like New. 140-06xxx (1973) second year mfg, and it appears to have correct grips/ medallions, and Super Trigger.
They don’t make them anymore and it is one of the nicest Black Powder Revolvers ever made. A few years back you could buy the Brass Frame OA’s in the $900 range. Days gone by.
it was one of Bill Ruger’s favorites.
I aquired a frame & barrel, bought it for the barrel thinking it would come with a chopped frame (Crime Room Disposal) it showed up not chopped and in ~94% condition and a first year (1972) SN# at that. The hunt has been on to put it back together. Got a good deal on a Ruger Brass Frame that was wonky, after some carefull massaging, fit some grips and I have some old Black Bird BRASS Medallions, black-after-market.
All this said, I think it’s worth $1000,
but I’m going to keep it and enjoy it!, and it’s not original.

Wouldn't part with either of my Old Armys for $1000. They are not brass frame, but truly are works of art.
