Interested in either a Ruger M77 international or a CZ 550 fs.
Had an opportunity to look at an M77 in a local gun store.
Major item I noticed was how sloppy the bolt slide was when I opened it.
I am probably spoiled comparing it to my Browning A bolt and Krag.
Are all M77s this sloppy or did I just pick up a unique one? If they are I am suprised that ruger put this on the market. (of coarse that is just my opinion)
Have not had an opportunity to check out the CZ. Does anybody have an opinion on the CZ?
Respectifylly Dave :?:

I've owned both rifles.

I prefer the higher polish/blue of older M77's to either the CZ's or the latest Ruger M77's - especially the virtually matte-finish Hawkeye RSI. YMMV.

Proprietary scope mount/rings for each are a tossup, and there are multiple aftermarket choices for either.

The CZ-550 trigger is easier to work on than a later M77's - either is replaceable, aftermarket-wise.

The CZ is easier to accurize, should the need arise - since it is basically a standard Mauser 98.

Ruger's factory support, after the purchase, has trumped just about ANY other brand's supposed other advantages.

Thanks guys for the response. Good information for my next purchase especially the Ruger support.
Dave :)
