and I'm staying in the house. It's damp, chilly, foggy, and my back has been hurting for 3-4 days so not good idea to be sitting out in the weather. :(
We moved one of the hardside blinds yesterday to a spot closer to the action but it's more of an evening hunt location. The SSE wind is wrong for most of our blinds so I forfeited my choice spot for this morning to Son. It's good but not enclosed.
Hopefully, there will be a few good hunting days before this season (final season of the year) ends Jan 6 2026.

Good luck!!

Today is the final hooraw for 2025/6 deer season (a few more days of archery but I don't do that anymore) and it's foggy, damp, and warm. This morning, I'm going to take one of my dogs that's somewhat of a 'tracker' to look for a deer that ran into 10 acres of 6' tall switch grass after being shot at last evening. No idea if there's a blood trail or not but I suspect the trail will end where the coyotes caught up with the wounded deer. :(

I plan to head up to the deer camp this Friday for the last few days of the season in SW GA. We are located in the group of counties the state extended the firearms season to end on 1/15. Firearms season closes on 1/11/26 for most of GA this year.

Also, some counties have an extended archery season through 1/31, but I do not archery hunt.

The MO firearms deer season has ended. The deer I went to find yesterday turned out to be a near miss rather than a hit and run. Apparently, the bullet did nothing more than clip hair off the buck's belly.
I found the exact spot where the deer was standing and although there was cut hair, I found no evidence of the bullet actually breaking the skin. I put the dog on the track and we followed to the point where deer crossed a swamp that I couldn't wade and there was no blood trail on ground or foliage. I was fairly proud of the dog's performance since this isn't her primary line of work. ;)

Same here except our season does end on 1/11.

I gotta have a talk with a couple of guys to whom I'd offered to donate deer. It's legal to do so in MO so nothing technically wrong with that. The problem is their timing--they waited until the final 2-3 days to ask for the deer. A few days earlier when there was snow and the temps were in the teens, deer were out looking for supper by 4PM. The final few days were warm and damp and the deer just didn't move before dark. I guess I've spoiled them but in the future they'll have to 'place their order' in a more timely manner. The third guy is far more cooperative and accepts his deer whenever it works.

Yep, I am willing to share, but the exchange occurs at my discretion.
