Tom's neighbor(ish) has decided to go public with his desire to assist disabled veterans with hunting opportunities. He's been working on an accessible hunting lodge to promote this project. We've put some time in helping and it seems the guy is legit. He began taking one of his friends (who's a disabled veteran) out once a year and felt this is what he wants to do.
Tom and I went down a while back to help out with setting a new septic tank and lines so during a BS break I made my offer. I told him if he could find a blind veteran and a place to hunt, I'd provide the equipment and expertise and guide service for a deer hunt. The guy was skeptical but between Tom and the backhoe guy, they got the idea across that I could provide what I offered. If the prospect has one working hand and can sit upright and fairly still in a blind, I can give him an opportunity to shoot a deer.
We'll see how it plays out and truthfully, there's no question that I can make it work. I sometimes feel hesitant to make such claims or relate past success as so many simply can't believe but time will tell.
