OM 9MM Cylinder Problem

I started loading some 9mm’s for the Blackhawk yesterday and found that the chambers are all under sized. A fully re-sized case that falls into a Wilson case gauge will not even begin to chamber in the convertible cylinder. Will Ruger re-chamber it for me? I’m not about to send them the gun, I don’t want it converted.

you sure the cylinder is a 9mm? Never heard of an OM having this problem before. Maybe there is a coating in the charge holes? Is this the first time you have tried using the 9mm cylinder?
I'd send it to cylindersmith.com before I sent it off to Ruger.

greenmachine, Have you tried some "commercial" ammo yet? I'd give that a try after jimbo's suggestion of cleaning the chambers.......................Dick :wink:

Jeez, sometimes I swear I'm just too stupid to live! I didn't realize the 9mm cylinder was in the gun. Never shot this gun with either cylinder (actually have another just like it). I bought this one for my son and am just now getting it checked out for him.

But, since the thread is open anyway I'll share this. I checked the throat diameter with .357 bullets and they slip through with little or no resistance. I'm going to load up some 100 grain .357 DEWC's to see what kind of accuracy I can get and compare with some standard 9mm's.

I have one of those. I fired the 9mm cyl yesterday for the first time. Changed the cylinders for 357........stop..this don't look right. Nothing is marked, I had to look very close and see which one had been fired to tell the difference. And take off my 1 1/2 shooting glasses, put on my bifocals.
I almost put the cylinder that I had been shooting right back in the gun.
They both have the numbers inscribed alike.
I cleaned it and put it away already and just thought about it when seeing your post.
What should I mark and with what? I don't want to hurt the value of the gun....guess I will just have to try a bullet each time.
I already had the wrong one back in the red bag before I realized it.

Thanks for the post Buddy, and yes they do look alike - markings and all. "guess I will just have to try a bullet each time" is apparently the answer. Nines won't fit in the .357 cylinder and .38's/.357's won't fit in the other. (probably a good thing)
