This looks like something I might be interested in doing with one of my OMs. Would you care to go into specifics regarding cost and time? And who made the new grips for you?

Thanks, gents, for the comments.

Sorry, can't remember where I got the grips. Have had 'em
for years. The gripframe is a Brownells item for around $125,
I guess. It comes in the white, with only the barest of machining
done, so be prepared to do a lot of grinding and sanding. The hammer
comes from Power Custom. Their pricing may have changed. Seems
I paid over $150, but under $180. (Was an early BD present from
my wife). several months ago. The hammer, also, came requiring
fit. It is hard as nails, making any milling to be done a real adventure.
Required a lot or fitting and aggravation, but turned out
to be worth it in the end.

Best,

oldies.... good looking pistol. Looks like you can interchange Super Blackhawk and Bisley grip frames at will. Which is an excellent way to compare your grouping and point of impact (POI), targeting same loads with the respective grips.

Bill Ruger wanted to introduce the .357 Maximum with a Bisley grip. I say "a Bisley grip," because at the time----1981---the grip frame conformation was in his head only. Bill Ruger, Jr., said that, as the Ruger Bisley grip frame went into production, the idea was for interchangeable fit-up of grip frames to cylinder frames. In the words of Bill, Jr., "It didn't out out."

I haven't done a direct, on-gun comparison, but intend to.

An old take-off gripframe saves a lot of work. I haven't had a problem with
hole alignment. On an old model, you should also have the Bistley 3
screw hammer and trigger.(Contact Power Custom). If using a factory 3
screw hammer, it leaves a giant hole behind the hammer for unwanted debris
to accumulate.

Nice Bistley! (Neat name for a mix-n-match gun!)
I took an OM Super that someone had chopped the barrel on & put a NM Bisley Stainless G/F on it. I also added a stainless ERH. I left my Super hammer in place, but I too used an adaptor for the trigger return spring.
Sweet guns!

Yeah..... I like 'em too. Have a 3 screw 41mag done the same way.
With my arthritis these days, shooting a plow handle gun with any
kind of get-up-and-go load is real agony. The Bistley seems to take
most of the discomfort away, but with the 45, I haven't tried a 325gr
slug with a good amount of slow burning powder behind it yet either.
Soon.

Good info on availability of the gripframe. Also on the hammer and
trigger assembly made for factory produced Bistleys. To obtain a 3
screw bistley hammer, I believe it is only available thru Power Custom
directly.
