SR9c's introduction saw a slight redesign and a relief cut in the slide where it mates to the barrel when locked up. Peening isn't an issue, Ruger has solved the problem. Whether the relief cut fixed things, or they tweaked the design even further is the question.

Wandering and drifting pins weren't anything more than an isolated issue. Mountains made of molehills.

My 9c showed enough peening to alarm me within the first 100 rounds. Now, with 5-6 hundred rounds through it the peening has not gotten any worse and seems to have smoothed out somewhat. The peening was on the top of the breech. Along the sides of the breech there is "polishing" and it seems to be continuing, but not peening.
