I have had this mirror for about ten years now, it belonged to my father's stepfather who was in the Army Air Corps in late 1945 and got through basic training at about the time WWII ended. He ended up in the Pacific working on just about everything with a motor from trucks to planes. I ended up with this signalling mirror of his and was told it was used in WWII or at least that's when they were made. I still use it from time to time and its like everything else from that time, overbuilt and tough as nails. Anyone ever see one of these? I keep it for my pack since I know that's what he did.

I have (had) the exact same mirror myself. Mine is pretty pristine condition. Don't really remember where I got it. But, they only problem is that I can't find it. I don't remember ever getting rid of it though, so one of these days I hope to run across it.

Crap! now I'm going to have to go on another hunting spree.

My dad had one exactly like that since at least the early '70s. From childhood, I always thought it was neat, and now I have something similar that I take whenever I'm traveling in the mountains.

Those mirrors were in removable first aid packets (8X5 inches approx) in all aircraft. Smaller versions were in survival equipment for all pilots during 60's through 85 when I retired. Great piece of gear.
