Well Guys,
Just couldn't help myself on the title
Here are a couple of old 357 3 screws that Alan Harton made into Vaqueros. He has done 17 like this for the late "Mr. Vaquero" Joe Bowman.
Barrels cut from 6 1/2", blackpowder bevel on the cylinders, custom made Super hammers, and re-blue along with new anodizing on the grip frame.
Without a dought the best Cowboy gun known to man
Jim

I got to handle one of Joe's SAA Rugers at the NRA Show in Phoenix back in the '80's.....

The hammer springs must have been 10 pounders or so

Slicker than "_not" on a door knob. :D

OK  Jim will commint again they are so neat  a great look esp. the treatment where the adjustable sight was 8) 8)

Nice, but still not quite a Vaquero look at the rear sight part next to the hammer, still not the true shape of a Vaquero, to square and high.
But he did do a exellent job on these guns.

I remember hearing about these but I never saw any pictures. Thanks for sharing . They are awesome! I'd love to have a set with 6 1/2" barrels.

Well now ya got to remember these are Old Model Vaqueros. This is the way it was before they made Vaqueros. Then they came out with the New Vaquero now we are back to Vaqueros again. So the Vaqueros, New Vaqueros, and now Vaqueros are not the true shape. Joe Bowman took his Old Model Vaqueros to Mr. Bill and Bill got it wrong.
Thanks Jim

I too have had the pleasure of handling a few of Joes guns, and even helped him with one show. These "Vaqueros" are SWEET!

Thanks for sharing that Jim. I saw an exibition fast draw shooter in '72 or '73 in a shopping mall that was probably Mr. Bowman.

Did he rub out the "Blackhawk" roll mark and replace it with anything, or does it still say "Blackhawk"? Can't tell from the pic.

Yeah, this is one case where the factory look is better than the custom. My OM Vaquero would get a file taken to the rear frame corner, CCH the frame and hammer and install a steel XR3 grip frame with a Clements old to new model adapter trigger.

I kinda like that squared off look at the rear...Makes it seem beefy and solid. If I could afford one, I would go over it with a grey Scotchbrite pad for the "antique" look myself.....

I don't know, it's only been a few years since Bob Munden did an exhibition at a Ford dealership where I used to live in FL.
