Old Model Single Six with box and papers SOLD

Going to let my un-converted old model Single Six go. Has both cylinders, looks really good, just a slight amount of bluing loss at the muzzle. The box is in decent shape, although the top has been taped up at the back, inside and out. Cool thing about it, it has the original receipt, showing the original buyer payed $77.04, tax and all! It was from Sumners Feed and Hardware. This was the grandfather of the man that owns Knob Creek Gun Range, home of the machine gun shoot. I tried to take some decent pics, but these are from my cell phone, so I apologize if they are not the best. As you can see, the box is marked for a .22 Magnum, but I believe this is the original box. I have heard that Ruger would ship them out in that box. The grips are original too, as this was near as I can figure shipped in 1972. It has the box for the extra cylinder, the red felt bag for it, and even the wax paper. I want $450 (Was $525) shipped for the package.

Very likely that box is original to the gun. It is at least the correct type box. Ruger first sold the 6.5" fixed sight Single Six as a Magnum (only) gun in 1959 when Winchester introduced the .22 WMR round, and Ruger gave the gun the catalog number RSSM (M for Magnum). When convertibles came along later, Ruger kept the same box and in fact, for the 6.5" fixed sight guns, the LR cylinder is considered the second cylinder. The catalog number for a 6.5" convertible is really RSSMX but the X was only noted on the shipper.

That SN is indeed from 1972 and is less than 10K away from the end of old model production in 1973.

Free bump for gunman42782.... guys, this is a great price for an excellent gun in the condition it shows. Someone should snatch this up. I'd do it except I already have my own original convertible from 1964
