Did a little dove hunting with my old Remington 1889 12 gauge. Had some brass shells loaded with black powder. Literally had a blast!

Go to this pic in your library. Hover the mouse over it and at the bottom of the pic you'll get the options of clicking to Edit or Delete. Click Edit, follow the directions. When my pics "expand" I see the pic size in the upper right corner. Simply change the size and "save".

If/when you isolate a pic from imgur for posting by double left-clicking on it, look at the bottom of the menu along the isolated pic's RH side, and choose a size (like "large thumbnail") to illuminate via single left-clicking on it.
After that, go higher in the same menu & copy the "Direct Link" for pasting into your thread.

I love '89s, and that's a great one.
Still have my great-grandfather's 10-bore w/32" "compressed steel" barrels. It was set up (not at the factory) as a "ball and shot" gun with one barrel marked "Choke" (about IM) and the other "Ball" (w/no choke), and rechambered for the then "new magnum" shells (2 7/8" instead of the then-standard 2 5/8"). It's marked "MAGNUM" on the water table, not a factory marking, and has a little rifle sight dovetailed into the rib to match the front bead for shooting "pumpkin balls" which you could get in any guage including .410 back when this gun was made in '92. I have a couple of those loads but haven't shot them; it shoots well with handloaded 2 7/8" shells but I don't like the extreme drop in the stock; we shoot with a different style than they did back then, and our factory loads are MUCH hotter than theirs, guage-for-guage.
Does yours have "compressed" or "Ordnance" steel barrels (field grade) or twist or Damascus (grades 2 and 3)?

Sounds like a pretty cool 10 gauge you have. I wouldn't want to shoot it with any heavy loads though. Like you said the angles on the stock aren't quite right.

Dont remember the distance or size of the circle. But they would then stamp that number under each barrel. Mine is marked 25 and 28. A leading 3 is implied so 325 and 328 out of 511.

Thanks for the patterning info. Mine doesn't have those numbers, but I suspect they may have been polished off when the gun was re-done to its present configuration. Pretty sure the modifications aren't factory.
1889s were made in 16 guage also, but they are scarcer than hen's teeth--I've seen a grand total of ONE in my 3/4 century! They catalogued even smaller guages but apparently never made any except prototypes.
