Ok... this is the Truth boys and girls.
The US Forest Service is not being dismantled. Previously, they were administrated on a regional level. The reorganization will create a more state-focused approach. Those of us that live in fire-prone areas of states that routinely burn every summer will appreciate that.
I guess you COULD make an argument that state by state administration may create duplication of services and positions.... but when all he'll is breaking loose, it's good to be able to have a dedicated group of folks who routinely interact with each other.

Forest service went into the area we hunted locked gates so we could not access the area...Someone shot the lock off the gate twice...3rd time they cut the metal gate posts off at the ground. Lots of piles of trees piled up that people had permits to cut but FS didn't want to be bothered with people going up to cut or hunt. If they get rid of enough middle level bureaucrats they can use the money to spray pine bark beetles that are killing the forests...weather does not stay cold enough up high to keep the beetles killed off. They kill the trees...more dead wood to burn...more forest fires you know

If I were so inclined, I might think of cutting the chain and put my own lock on, like "open range" ranches do.

BUT... Low-key would get you access, without jail time.When you want to make a point, low-key may not be the way...
If you want to "make a point", arrange a public outcry / demonstration with the media in attendance. I hunt too, and hunted public property for decades. I'll be happy to sign your petition to open / re-open the public property.
But if you're into destroying public (aka tax-payer's) property, I'll be happy to vote to have you incarcerated .

Worked in the Gifford Pinchot NF from 87-91 as seasonal help. Really great old growth trees in that area. Was stationed in Carson WA. I will say this is bad idea. We all know that the Feds in Foresty seem to have ways of either being beneficial to forest or the forest worse nightmares so to speak. 100s of thousands of acres allowed to burn either by choice and sometimes no choice. We all have watched forests burn when they could call in big airliner tankers to knock them down in accessible areas. But they say no its to expensive. BLM. BIA. etc, Are no different. Gutting FS even with issues of public lands use etc.. is bad idea.
