I traded off my 4&5/8" .41 Blackhawk years ago and except for a .22 I have not had any single action revolvers since then. I have had a long term love affair with large frame DA revolvers. I currently own two Redhawks, more N-frame Smiths than I can count (although my wife can), a Colt New Service, and a great old Webley MKVI converted to .45 ACP., but no big bore SA revolvers. So it is official, a Blackhawk or Super Blackhawk is back on my radar. First choice is to replace the short barrel .41 I gave up but a .44 or .45 would work fine but I really like ths short barrel models.

Whew, glad I got that off my chest! Is there some support group for this?

Oh, my gosh, yes! We're the worst of the bad.

Short barreled Blackhawk, eh?

If I'm heading out to the woods and want to pack a "medium sized" big bore one of these two get "first choice". The Flattop is a .44 mag. and the OM Blackhawk is a .45 Colt. Both offer big bore performance. And, no, I don't care that they are not the lightest of "carry guns" but they can shuck significantly heavy chunks of lead down range with acute accuracy.

I'll caution you that my friends here will offer other tempting solutions.

I think one of the neatest that Ruger has came out with is that Stainless Steel 44 Special in the flattop in the 4-5/8" barrelwhat a neat little Gun.. J/S

No great drool-inducing pictures here, but how can you withstand the siren song of the first new .44 Special single action production revolver in years? Or yes, the .41 mag. Flattop. Deep blue. You hear it calling to you... Some of those nice holly grips you've seen... You're getting sleepy... Your wallet is opening... To heck with those bills. This is more important. Bask in the glow of the pursuit and acquisition.

My only shorty is a .45 Colt NM Blackhawk... its a ton of fun and pretty accurate.
