I see that Microsoft has now come out with a new operating system...Windows 10. I haven't yet figured out Windows 8 when I was automatically upgraded to 8.1. Now they have thrown another system out there to confuse us. Take me back to XP. There was a system that worked.

+1

Microsoft's motto: If it works, fix it 'til it's broke.

I also received the so-called pop-up "choice" to upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1....you can do now or in 1-4 hours. So far I'm having no problems with 8.1. I'm not going to 10 until forced to do so.

Microsoft is my daughter's future college education. Just imagine where they will be in 10 or 12 years... imagine what the future of computer's will be like....

Give 7 a try. I went from XP to 7 and can tell very little difference. If figure if I can do it ANYONE can.

I have Windows 7 Professional on my new PC. I like 7. I checked into Windows 10 and found that it's supposed to be more like 7 than 8 is. I'll go to it when they quit supporting 7, or if I have to. A business only PC still has XP and it works just fine.

I hated 8 and glad I never messed with Vista. You've gotta wonder who comes up with this new/improved BS.

I am sorry - but window never had a versionof anything that worked. Windows 10 will get you what you could have had with Mac OS 8. Of course, the most recent versions of the Mac OS are garbage, so six-to-one, hald-dozen-to-another. Good luck with your new system. TD

One word..... Linux
No, two words . . . . Linux Mint.

Actually the easiest flavor of Ubuntu for those using Winderz[sic].

It's FREE, understands winderz data formats, has an interpreter (Wine) so
winderz unique code will run under Linux, loads very quickly, and is EASY
to learn the small differences.

OBTW! (that's Oh By The Way, for you non acronym fans) it does
NOT require a firewall to keep various virus' off your system. I've been
running without a firewall for six years . . . . no problem. I tried that for
twenty minutes with winderz, while my ISP "fixed" a few things and it
took two full (FULL) days to get my system running again.

Did I mention it is FREE?!

It also removes income from that gun hater wee-willy gates.

I'm still using a laptop with XP. I'm not looking forward to the day that I have to replace it.

Wife's new laptop is Windows 8.0 and when she has a problem she asks me how to fix it and I can't do anything with it because I don't know it!!! :(

I have been using 8.1 ever since it came out. I downloaded a program that gave back the start button and it looks just like XP. I am having absolutely no problems with it. We have it on four computers here in our home.

Yes Windows 10 is in "beta" evaluation stage and it should be more familiar wo Windows 7/XP users than Windows 8/8.1. You can still put Windows 8.1 in a mode where you can use a desktop instead of the dumb tablet style interface, but it is still a bit of flipping back and forth, and I personally hate it. I'm staying at Windows 7 Pro until Windows 10 is stable for release

Win7 on my laptop with Linux Mint 16. Win8.1 in the Hamshack with Classic Shell to make it look like an older version and ease of compatibility with my logging programs.

Day in and out I use Linux Mint 17 upgraded to 17.1 on my home office computer. I do just about everything on it. I record a lot of music from vinyl to high quality FLAC files. 17 years of using Linux and it's never been so easy to use. I need to sit down and learn to use ham radio related programs on Linux and I would have no further need for Windows.
