I was diggin through some old family photo's and ran across this one. The white guy is my Great Grandfather. The black guy is their farm hand. This was taken about 1940 in Hopkins MN at the farm where my mom grew up. That's a big old work horse.... I wonder how tall their worker was!?

To be "closer" to on topic.. His name was Huger.... like Ruger but with an H. Mom can remember him well. Said he was a very nice and quiet man who lived in the loft of their barn with his wife and two kids. I was a little surprised people lived like that "in town" around 1940 in America.

Thanks! There is another somewhere that shows him driving the wagon and my mom sittin next to him. She was about 3 or 4... hardly could see her! ha ha

Thanks! I have some of the farm they are on, from about 100 yards off.... they owned about 160 acres and the farm and house is smack dab in the middle of what now is a pricey neightborhood... old, but expensive houses.

The guy standing there, the white guy, is my moms grandpa and his wifes father built the house (three stories) himself.... very nice old house. Wish it was still in the family.

I played there a lot when I was young.
