Tomorrow my Wife and I are heading to the extreme NE tip of Georgia to visit my Brother and his Wife for a couple of weeks. We are specifically headed to Blairsville.

My Brother moved there from Saint Cloud, Florida about a year ago. He loves it. Especially the climate and the people who live in that part of Georgia. He and his wife are trying to get us to move there....
Very tempting based on where I live now. I live across the Columbia river from Portland, OR in Washington state. The whole Pacific Northwest sucks, but especially the epicenter Portland.

Who knows, after a visit I might join him! Wife and I are open to the thought......

If you have the time, Chickamauga battlefield a 2 hours drive. Hamilton co. (Chattanooga) is pretty much a battlefield in itself.

Enjoy your trip! North GA is especially beautiful this time of year, so green.

I'm sure your brother will take you on the most direct route from Knoxville to Blairsville, as if there is one LOL. Or he could take you the scenic route and hope you don't get car sick

I'm making an assumption here.... we call them 'halfbacks' Folks that moved way South to Florida and then decided to come halfway back..... surely got a bunch of them here in my town ....... I just checked out Blairsville... good looking country in the foothills.

Sounds like Georgia needs more good people. As far as the northwest , you're right it's a mess.

There is a small town south of Blairsville that looks like an Alpine village in Germany. Helen has architecture, food, etc. is on that theme. Neat place to visit. Enjoy the mountains of GA. Oktoberfest is great!

We actually visited Helen today. Quite the visitor Mecca. Neat place. Had lunch today at the Clayton Cafe. Visited a lot of the surrounding attractions in a 6 hour tour.

I returned from my visit to Georgia today. I had a good visit with my brother and his wife and also his sister-in-law and her husband. In fact, I wound up brokering a car sale to the sister-in-law's husband. A LOT OF MONEY CHANGED HANDS in the transaction. The deal was for a Shelby GT 500 with <900 miles on it.
Anyway, back to the trip. We enjoyed the visit. The people in that neck of the woods are very friendly and helpful. The mountainous terrain was beautiful and the weather was great. We had a great time until the second week when the gas shortage struck. Due to the shortage we were unable to travel much. Kinda restricted to their home and the local area.
We did have nice lunch meet up with Cholo one day. It was nice to see him and my entourage liked him as well!
One thing I will say is that we didn't see one single homeless person much less a homeless camp in a 50 mile radius of Blairsville. I didn't see any in the vicinity of Knoxville airport either. Different culture there than Dorkland, Oregone.........
Bottom line we had a mostly good visit.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. While there are homeless around other places they are most visible in Atlanta.

Shelby GT500-Wow.

I'm glad you and your wife made it home safely! It was lousy about the gas, but at least it didn't snow LOL I really enjoyed our lunch!
