Not to mention Rod Stevens and GM. (There's a little error up front, Olin deserves that credit, but let's not quibble.)

45 minutes, well spent. If interesting, google "Half Safe".

I was astounded at their demonstrated seaworthiness - rescuing the crew from the Coast Guard vessel - those waves were mighty impressive.

Here's a link to 'Half Safe': http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Carlin

I read the book, but it was a long time ago. A most improbable venture!

Thank you very much for posting this.My Dad was a DUCK driver in the Korean War in 1952.He talked about it often. He said they would carry everything from firecrackers to 500 pound bombs and had a lot of memories.
He was stationed at a ammo dump (as he called it) right next to a fuel depot,so both places were a good target for the enemy. This brings back a lot of memories for me when Dad would take about it.He was proud of his service.

You are more than welcome. I do my best to find and post what I think should be interesting stuff - not certain if many agree, however.
