So over in the classified I see the Freedom Arms revolver for sale. Simply beautiful gun. That is truly where art meets steel. However, I can't help but wonder, why would it not have an "Octagonally shaped" ejector rod housing to match?

I'm not trying to say it's distracting without a matching housing, but just curious. Does such a thing even exist?

Would this not be traditional? For that matter, were octagonal barrels on revolvers even traditional to begin with? or just old black powder muskets?

Kevin,
If you take a look at Bowen's Custom Revolver book, I think you will find a revolver with an octagon ER housing. Seems like the gun was designed to bring to mind a Winchester style lever gun. The book is hard to get but is available as an e-book for about $10.

Interesting idea Kevin.

Bet it'd be spensive. But if you ponying up for a oct bbl, what another 1-200$$$??

My son works on metal. He says you can get anything you like made to order, if you're willing to pay the price.

Might look like "overkill" but... :?

I like octagon barrels but find half round/half octagon odd looking too. "In the eye of the beholder" I guess...

Oh yea, either a one piece or silver soldered (sp) to look like one piece.

Ive wanted a custom revolver from Clements or someone for a while now. All you guys postíng pictures of yours...makes a person not sleep good at night.

And Bob Wright's guns. I tell my wife all the time "Bob on the internet has some nice revolvers"....she just looks at me like im crazy....

Totally different type of gun, but I find the octagon barrels on the old T/C Contenders to be beautiful. They are a tapered octagon that fades out to a round barrel at the muzzle. It just seems like such an extravagant design, very elegant. I would like to see something similar on a revolver or rifle. Ed.
