Number one info needed

Hey gent's,
I have a Lyman 45-70 in the case, unfired, Ruger list the last known ser# for 1978 at 131-46XXX, and in 1979 it starts ate 132-XXXX......this one has two ser#. 131-53XXX and L-78-0133.

so whats up?

Check out this link and you can see what happened to No.1 serial#s in the jump from the 131- to the 132 series in 1979. The L-78 is the Lyman number.

All of the Lyman Centennial rifles were 131- prefix as far as I know.

I've been following the Centennials for some time. Some of the serial numbers of Grade II models that I've come across range from 130-45846 thru 132-08430. The Grade I models that I've seen are in the 131-45000 range. The overruns that I've come across are in the 132-20000 - 132-21000.

Thanks tomno.1....looks like I jumped the gun a little bit there.

For Grade II my notes show guns reported from 131-31734 to 131-44748 and 131-50627.
the overruns noted are 132-20756 to 132-21320 and 132-29640.

Interestingly, I'd never had a Grade II actual serial number reported, except for the overruns.

The Grade II you noted in the 130-45xxx range is interesting. That one must have been an old receiver or perhaps Lyman prototype of some sort.
