Well Guys,
As most of you know I shoot 71/2" Old Armys in CAS. Well as I get older and my Arthritic thumb gets worse I had to come up with a better way to shoot one handed. The ROA is probably the worst balanced 71/2" gun Ruger ever made. Yea I know you guys that shoot them two handed ask "What the hell is he talking about?" The problem is just the way the gun is made, which just happens to be the best way to make a C&B gun. The reason for the FORWARD WEIGHT is because of a long heavy cylinder, a longer frame forward of the cylinder, and the loading lever and ram rod. Now add the weight of a 71/2" barrel and you get a lot of forward weight.
Since the 51/2" SS OA is very hard to find at a decent price I decided to take my 71/2" OAs to Alan Harton. "OK Alan lets get ride of some weight and make them look GOOD" "OK Jim HOW much money ya got" " JUST do it"
Well here is what we have
Barrels cut to 51/2" along with the loading lever cut. Cylinders fluted and Black Powder Bevel , just because that looks good. All the Billboard taken off barrels and cyl. Do I really need for someone to tell me to shoot BP Only? Super Blackhawk hammers and Eagle Gunfighter grips. 19# springs, yea they work along with Tresco nipples. All internal parts Nickel plated to make them REAL smooth. All external parts Nickel plated to make me happy and nobody had Shinny SS guns in the Old West.
Well Guys I guess that's about it. Just hope I can shoot these fast.
Jim

I like 'em too, WJ, and I'm with you on the "balance" part. I can't tolerate an outa balance gun neither.

Thanks Guys,
DGW I still wouldn't call these well balanced, better, but not like my 5 1/2" 45 Colt Flattop conversions. Now those two are well balanced like a Colt SAA. The OAs just have to much weight forward of the CG IMHO.
One thing for sure THEY ARE the best C&B gun made. They will go bang everytime unless I screw up and yea I have  Some day I'll tell all how I stuck 3 balls in one of them      C&Bs and loading in the rain ain't good
