Once upon a time Huskvarna was also known for sewing machines and firearms.

This is a Husqvarna Model 1600 carbine chambered in .243 Win. Dad purchased it, along with the 4X Redfield scope, in 1964 from Westridge Sporting Goods in Casper, Wyoming. These rifles were known for extremely strong Mauser style actions. Many a Pronghorn, Mule Deer, and Coyote have been on the wrong end of this rifle.

They are excellent rifles. I came across one a couple of months ago at a little local gunshow, it was a .30-06. I was tempted even though I presently have no need for an '06. Think I could have bought it for $400. I would take it over 90% of the new rifles being produced today.

They were one of the three manufacturers of the Swedish model 96 series Mausers.

My friend Mike HAS one of those Very well made extra smooth action Beauties, can not remeber the caliber tho, something not very common.

BTW they also made some pretty good dirt bikes. ps
