Been thinking of buying a Jard trigger for my no 1 338win any input would be appreciated. The factory trigger is to heavy to suit me.
Or should I take it apart and try to polish it up? It's the newer model trigger.

There has been some chatter on the Yahoo No1 site about hammers and trigger recently. Mine are all early 3 screw ones and can be adjusted light enough for me. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/RUGER-1/info

I tried looking around on the yahoo site but found nothing on Jard triggers.
That's a complicated group to navigate and I couldn't find a search button on there.

Hello SweetWilliam,
I have one I have not had time to install yet. Will let you know how it goes. It looks good and also looks to have more leverage than the factory unit. How it works, I don't know yet.

What weight did you get? I'm leaning towards the 2.5lb.
I was dry firing it last night in the garage and it definitely needs a lighter pull.

I did get the 2.5lb one. It seemed like a good pull weight. I have a recent production 1A in 7-08 Rem with a rough heavy trigger that needs help. I will take ten before/after pull weight measurements and post them when I get to it.

I just went ahead and ordered a 2.5lb from E. Arthur Brown Company Inc. $116 shipped. I know it'll be a lot better then the stock one in it now.

I had a Moyers trigger installedvin My 7mm mag #1B. It's adjustable, and really made a difference. I believe I bought it from Midway. When I had my #1B 30-06 rechambered to 30-06 ai I took it to a local gunsmith and had a standard trigger job done. It was better than the factory trigger, but still not as fine as the Moyers.

Well I got my no.1 back with the new Jared trigger. I won't be able to shoot until tomorrow but I will say it's smooth & lite.
I went with the 2.5 lb but the trigger pull scale says it's at 1.5 lbs.
should help me group a little better.

I can finally follow up on this one. I measured the factory trigger with my spring trigger gauge, and it gave readings between about 4 and 1/8th lbs and nearly 5lbs pull, and every where in between. I thought it felt inconsistent and the gauge agreed.
I installed the 2.5lb Jard trigger and was rewarded with a 1.5lb pull, and no measurable variation, at least on my little spring gauge. It feels great even though it is a full pound lighter than it was supposed to be.
This was on a new #1A in 7-08 Rem with only a 100 rounds through it. The factory trigger may have smoothed up after some time, but it is so nice now I am not looking back.
Needless to say that little #1 really shoots.
Thanks,
Rich

Glad to here I’m not the only one that had a Jard 2.5 installed that measured 1.5 once installed. I just got a Hicks accurizer in the mail yesterday, and dropping it off at the gunsmith today.
Even after the lighter trigger I still couldn’t get groups that satisfied me. With 3 different bullets using Alliant 19. To be continued
