My LGS has a No.1 in .30-06 for $1500.

I haven’t seen it yet. I don’t have any details except a partial sn 132-15xxx I think it was made in 1980.

Any thoughts? I assume this is a pretty popular chambering? Were there many made?

Thanks.

My thought is that $1500 is a little bit high unless the rifle has exceptional wood or it is one of the rare variants. That said, they are exceptional rifles (in my opinion), and $1500 these days probably isn't unreasonable for a rifle that will provide a lifetime of ownership pride, great experiences, and good stories. I have a 1A Liberty in 30 06 I've been shooting for nearly 50 years (bought it new in '76). Here's a photo checking the 100-yard zero for a recent hunt, and the results of that hunt (taken at 117 yards a couple of weeks ago).

I would have to say that the .30-06 is a common chambering due to its popularity over the past 11 or so decades and possibly has the greatest amount of No. 1s chambered as such.

I have a Ruger pre-warning No1 in 45-70. Bought it 30 years ago used from an old-timer and never shot it (yet).
I think I paid around $350 for it.

I see them pop up on long range hunting forum for around that; maybe a couple hundred less but they dont get a whole lot cheaper. I see the No. 3 sometimes a little cheaper
