No. 1 ejector spring?

Just got to shoot my new No.1 Tropical in .416 Rigby. I have seen many comments regarding the safety standing proud, and various fixes, including the after market safety slide. My question goes to adjustments in the ejector. Is there some recommended setting? I have screwed the allen screw in to where there's about 1/8" thread showing. It will eject a heavier dummy round nicely, a shell, only, clears the action but no 'umphh' behind it. Secondly, my son tells me he read it's perfectly o.k. to dry fire a no.1......any opinions? The spring tension is meant to be adjustale to get the extraction/4ejection you want. So there is no specific setting, it's what you want it to be and how briskly you want it to pop.

I set my hunting rifles pretty heavy. I set the tension on my target and varmint rifle to just extract the fired case and leave it in the feed trough.

Shouldn't hurt to dry fire it any moderate amount,
