Next purchase help

Gearing up for my next purchase and im really really not sure which route i want to go. I dont need any of them, i dont have a reason for wantingany of them other than just to add to the Ruger Family.... any opinions, thoughts, whatever you have to offer would be great.

I have done leg work and looked at all of then for the most part, reading and researching as much as i could....

MK IV- 22/45..... have MK III but the new feature is nice and appealing

Bearcat.... dont have a single action .22 and i do like the small nature of the bearcat

Charger.... not sure why, but guess it would be fun to goof off with???

PC9..: dont have a pistol caliber rifle, but also dont care for semi autos. Only ones i have are Sigs and dont have much desire to buy a Ruger Semi or Glock to pair mags... but i think the gun would be fun to shoot and nice to carry when at the farm or in the truck.

77/357.... this is clearly the more expensive option, but i love .357 round and would certainly go along .357s i may have with me. Only issue i see here is an optic, i dont care for powerful optics and think a simple Red Dot would be a worthy choice but havent dug into this yet, but not sure what would be able to mount.

Savage 220 slug gun... i know not a ruger, but a great performing gun. would replace the old mossberg slug gun i have. I inow they shoot great, but id be lying if i said my old slug gun has been used in the past 5 years.

IMO, the MK IV is the pick of the litter, for ease of cleaning if nothing else.

I have a Bearcat, my second, and it is really nice. I got one of the original
ones and after ten years sold the $39.95 bearcat for $200. Well, after a
bit I decided to look again at the bearcat. Found a stainless one with an
excellent trigger, for twice what I received for the first one.

Old ones are very nice, I just REALLY love the newer ones in stainless.
Fun to shoot and far less expensive in ammo than any of the semi types.

It’s hard to beat a Bearcat with some Sack Peterson stag grips. Although Zane from LSCG has posted some incredibly beautiful grips for Bearcats as well.

My vote would be the 77/357. I bought one a couple of years ago when they temporarily discontinued them. It is a used stainless model with the black plastic stock. I have yet to put an optic on mine but I have a lower power adjustable scope that will work on it. I really like pistol caliber rifles, either bolt or lever. Fun stuff :mrgreen:

My vote is for the MK IV first and the 77/357 second.... personally I think the others from what you've said will end up just collecting dust....

Single actions 22s don't do anything for me.... the one I have is not that accurate and are a pain to load.
Charger... only advantage is it lets small children shoot from a bench.... unless you want to make an unregistered short barrel rifle...
PC9..... it has it's place but the big advantage is if you have a pistol that accepts the same magazines.... I'm still waiting on an insert that will take P95/89 mags or even better Sig P226... Ruger is really missing the boat on this...

The 77/357 and MK IV are certainly at top of list, have always been keen on the bearcats though... id likely get more use outta MK, but just something aboutthat77 really makes me tingly. 77s prices doesnt help though.

I should add that i have found one locally that is being sold at $700 w/3 mags... that helps a little, pretty sure i could get him down a little too

When I was very young I used to go through Aldens Catalog and look at pictures of the Ruger Bearcats. I dearly wanted one. Took a lot of years but I finally got a couple. I've had a few over the years, and finally decided I need one of each. I have an original model, and I have a new model in stainless. Takes me back to a better time. You've got some good options to choose from though. I think the Ruger M77/357 would be a cool choice, if you were going to get a chance to use it for dear hunting. What a memory.

We arent a rifle hunting county, but i could if i go to the mountains. It would be a gun to play around with, have with me at farm, and let others shoot that dont want the recoil of larger rifles.

My choice would be the 77/357 too. I have an 77/44, and love it. Close range gun doesn’t need optics IMO. The open sights that come on it are more than adequate. Good luck!

Yeah i saw it... that is size i would go for too.
