Newer Music

So, for a while now I haven't ran across any new music I really liked. A lot of times I listen to talk radio when going back & forth to work. If not that I usually tune in classic rock or the very local classic country station. I like all that stuff but I've been listening to it for many years. I find myself wanting to hear some different music.

In the last week I've stumbled across a couple newer things I believe I like. One is a band from Alabama called Red Clay Strays my wife told me about. They kind of go from one genre to another. I've heard songs that sound like southern rock, 70's soul/blues & almost gospel. The other I think has been around longer but I've been a bit oblivious. His name is Billy Strings & he is a good guitar picker that seems to play bluegrass though he has an acapella song called "Richard Petty" that I like. So is there any newer music that you find yourself partial to? If so, please share. I might want to give it a listen & see if I like it.

Her music is pretty good… not every song but most.

She’s from Iceland I think.

Billy Strings is the bomb.
My guitar teacher recently told me that every song I’ve never heard is NEW music so …. Get out there and explore.

He's huge now but a few years ago I got turned on to a then no-name guy I really came to enjoy named Sturgill Simpson ... right after his Sunday Valley Days and before he was big time. First new act in years that caught my attention.

There’s so much great music today. I just caught Benjamin Tod and Nolan Taylor a couple weeks ago, and it was a great show. Glad to see Billy Strings mentioned. Colter Wall, Tyler Childers, Sierra Ferrell, and so many others are worth listening to.

I like rock &hard rock that goes nearly to heavy metal. At 71 I naturally will listen to classic a lot but when I want to step into modern it seems lacking.
The new music I listen to on the modern rock station I have available seems to be off the mark for the most part. A lot seeming to deal with depression or angst, not just power driven songs that I've grown up with. Maybe me , or just the times.

Hoping Led Zep & Ozzy will stay for as long a I'm around.

My youngest Son and some of his Navy buds are fans of Zach Bryan. He's been popular a couple years now. He's different. I liked some of his stuff and tuned into his Pandora station.....lots of newer artists on there I like the sound of.

But after a stressful or rough day I always go back to Johnny Cash and Jamey Johnson to mellow out a bit.

Oh yeah...Zach Bryan was a Navy Ordie.....

Billy is damn good across the board, but Voodoo Chile was a mess if ya ask me. I wanted to hear his rendition as a player but all I got was a way too large band with too many involved. First I heard was an organ. An organ in Voodoo Chile? give me a break.

Tread lightly on that song, the original by one of the best with a 3 member band, the other best, SRV, again with a 3 member bad. The B.Strings version could have been left out. Makes me wonder just how good he really is without all that background noise. Not saying he ain't, but would just like to hear it on his own.

Gunzo, Agreed for the most part. I was going the mention the 3 piece rock bands that did it live numerous times and knocked it out of the park but this this guy doesn't seem like a hard rocker kind of guy but I appreciate the effort and him putting his own signature on it with the accompaniment was fine with me. I'll listen to his other stuff but I find his first song there quite catchy and good. I have eclectic taste in music which runs all over the place but the nucleus in my world is rock/hard rock/ progressive from the 60's-80's.

About 5 years ago I had a knee replacement and had to spend a lot of time laying in bed using a machine that would flex your knee for range of motion. I must have listened to this one dozens of times during that time.
