I have a SS I traded for back when I was shooting IHMSA and had Ruger change it's 5.5" barrel for a 9.5". I did shoot it quite a bit before the change and later realized that it was a really good shooter, possibly better than with the longer barrel. Ruger sent my old barrel back with the gun and I was curious whether swapping it back could be done by a (fairly talented) amateur, or should I take it to a pro?

ACTUALLY....It is pretty darned easy to do !!! Stop and think about the job at hand and you'll have it all done in no time flat. Be sure and clean the male and female threads when the new barrel is out and and before you put the old one back in...

Don't know what Ruger does, that's why I asked.

My brother and I build large capacity concrete breaking machines, due to impact caused vibration Loktite is mother's milk to us. Looks like a reasonable application to me. I'll try it without.
