Just bought a new SP101 .357 today and these are my plans:
Remove the grips and blast it thoroughly with CLP, then use canned air to dry it.
After that, a long regimen of dry firing (with snap caps) to try to take some of the stiffness out of the trigger.
Am I missing anything else I should be doing?

I had a few days wait before I could get to the range so I went ahead and did a thorough strip, clean, deburr and polish before 1st range trip. The gun was pretty clean, but had many sharp edges and pits in contact points. It made a big difference for mine, but dry firing may be enough for some. If interested on how to, here is a great guide.

Practice with single-action and double-action dry fire. Practice sight picture and trigger pull. ---- Now go shoot it and have a ball. It will take probably 500 rounds for break-in. 8) 8)

I bought my SP101, 3 inch barrel and DA only, used. It had all the rough edges smoothed out internally already but what really has made it a pleasure to shoot is the Wolff spring kit I installed. I used the lightest mainspring. I've had no failures to fire and the pull is smooth and easy enough that I can keep a good sight picture all the way through. It's my CCW of choice.
