Took my new SR40 to the range today. Really like the weapon for the most part. Have not done anything yet to it other than a good cleaning before shooting. So todays shoot was straight out of the box after cleaning. Very much used to my Ruger P95 so this 40 cal will take some getting used too. Found it to be a little snappy but I’ve read that is expected of the 40 S&W. This is my first 40.
Trigger is not bad, but now I understand those that state trigger is a little “gritty”. I did remove mag disconnect so in the process, toughly cleaned striker and striker channel and lube completely. That seemed to help a little but I suspect it will get better with more range time.
Plan on installing the Ghost Ultimate soon, but still need to review the videos a few time before I attempt. I want to make sure it all gets put back together correctly. The trigger reset is not as short as I would like it, but it is not that bad either.
Put only 120 rounds through this session. Mostly ball with a few JHP. Only had one FTF. Round got stuck coming out of magazine and did not go into battery. Other than that, very reliable. Appeared to be shooting to the left a little. I’m sure it was mostly me but I did notice rear sight was set to the left a little from factory. Will adjust and test it at next range session.
Hoping to make this one my concealed carry weapon. Currently carrying the P95, but would like to step up the SR40. Just need to work on recoil management. Put a Hogue handall grip on it because I like how the Hogue fills my hand, but did not appear to help in the recoil department.
