New Police Service Security Six

Hello, Just bought from a friend a Ruger Police Service Six. It was made
in 1984. Has the 2.75 barrel , stainless. Got it for 350.00. I am new to
357's, this is my first. Have a Blackhaws 45 Colt I bought new in 1971.
Anyway this is my first 357. Ordered some rubber grips. This does not have a mark on it. Just like new. Does anyone know about how many
they made like this. Is it a good one. The action is very smooth and the
trigger very good. I bought some Buffalo Bore heavy 125 gr. and some
180 gr heavy loads. Going tommorrow and get a box of the 158 gr heavy
load from Buffalo Bore. Anybody know what the velocity I can expect?
Really like the gun. I kind of like the looks better than a SP 101 I was
thinking about getting. I like the old stuff. The wood grips are pretty, but
for shooting I think the rubber ones might be better. Thanks. Phil

They made many thousands. That's one of the finest double aciton revolvers ever made and one of my personal favorites.

You can use S&W K-Frame holsters for fit too. Congrats on finding a gun lusted after by many here!

Congratulations and a very nice find. As the previous other posts have stated, thats one fine example of one of the best made double action revolvers, they're very desirable too. I have its twin in the 2-3/4" Security Six and I cant imagine ever getting rid of it. I agree and was going to change the grips out on mine too but decided to add the Tyler T grip to it to fill the grip out a little better. I also like the vintage look it gives the Six.

You have a very nice shooter there. Mine has a 3-inch barrel. It will gobble up those Buffalo Bore 180 grain cartridges. They are kinda pricey, so after shooting a few to see how they are you may want to keep them for special occasions.

If it's anything at all like mine, it truly is a keeper.
