I realize I may be treading on sacred ground, but the grater grips on my .44 special take all the fun out of shooting it. My other Non-Bisley Rugers all wear Hogues. What are my options for the flat top?

No. Maybe treading close if not over the line with a lot of folks with your Hogues :) --however prctical to you -- but not with (against) the "cheese graters" I assure you--at least with most. I'm one of the few who don't mind them (I tamed them a bit with a good dose of 00/000 wool and now use them as good "working" grips for all but the hottest loads, which I don't do much of anyway) - when I don't want to bang up my nice hollys, ebonys and walnuts. The likes of Carl "Private" Schultz, Cary Chapman (CaryC) here would be happy to set you up with a nice set of woods. Also Sack Peterson or Paul Grashorn for elks/stags. Btw - flattops same grips as New Vaquero--which of the NM's came first IIRC, though the 50th 357 was soon to follow - so if you ask some for NV grips that might be even more clear.
Also, the Ruger store www.shopruger.com has a few more choices than they have for the midframes (NVs/flattops) IIRC--as in one or two.
